BWPS0011 NC - ABLE Bridge Program
The Bridge program would provide an opportunity for potential college students to determine if college is a good match for them .It contains several elements. The first element would be instruction on how to be a successful college student. This curriculum includes time management, test preparation, note-taking, effective listening skills, and information recall as well as other skills and knowledge that contribute to a student's success in college. The second element would be mentorship. For a time for several of the days would be a presentation by an MTC Student Ambassador who would provide a real-life story of what it is like to be a college student including some Q & A time. A third element would be career exploration. Each student would take the Strong Career Interest Inventory. An instructor or employer from the top ten fields would give a brief presentation including Q & A about that career field.. The fourth element would be improvement of basic skills using a combination of direct instruction and computer assisted instruction targeted to improving performance on the COMPASS test.
