This course provides a brief introduction to general microbiology followed by advanced instruction in clinical bacteriology. The course will focus on bacteria associated with disease. The student will learn to examine and culture various specimensm, isolate and identify clinically significant bacteria, and perform antibiotic susceptibility tests. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to perform routine clincial microbiology procedures and evaluate the results in the clinical/practicum experience. 4 CrHr Prerequisites: MLT1040, MLT1050.
