ENG0970 provides instruction and practice that will allow the student to have increased comprehension and retention of written communication. The concepts of main ideas, implied main ideas, location of main ideas, supporting details, inferences, transitions, relationships (involving examples, comparison and/or contrast, and cause and effect), organizational patterns, and argument evaluation are introduced and reinforced throughout the term. Using a word-in-context approach with abundant practice, the student will develop an increased vocabulary of 280 essential words. 3 Cr Hrs. Prerequisite(s): Placement.
