Students need to be able to locate and modify the operating system kernels to close these holes in the cyber environment. This course is designed to provide the students with an understanding of how the various operating systems operate. Through hands-on activities, students will learn to write shell scripts and perform basic operations within the Linux OS along with UNIX. In Windows, students will download and run various utilities that will verify that their Windows system is protected. To perform these various operations, students will operate in the VMWare virtual environment building both an Ubuntu and a Windows virtual machine. 3 Cr Hrs. Prerequisite(s): CIT1351.
