This course introduces the student to basic semiconductor electronic devices such as diodes and transistors. Two types of transistors, the bi-polar transistor (BJT) and field effect transistors (FET), will be mainly covered. Their operation, biasing, amplifying circuits and frequency response will be introduced in detail. Other electronic devices and circuits such as thyristors, oscillators, op-amps and electronically regulated power supplies, as well as their operations and applications will be covered. Oscilloscopes and other types of test instruments will be used in lab exercises to support the theories taught. 4 credit hours. Prerequisite: EET1550 or EET1250 or concurrent.
